How the Geospatial Revolution is Reaching Rochester, NY In-Person

Join us for an exciting information session about Virtual Geospatial Information Science Technology education presented by Wayne D. Howard, GIS instructor at Monroe Community College. Wayne will provide a short introductory lesson in GIS to show what an interesting and rewarding career it can be. His presentation will include an overview of MCC’s new 9-credit GIST micro-credential program and a short hands-on exercise using GIS. This presentation is geared to those interested in MCC’s micro-credential program. In addition to instructing at MCC, Wayne is a GIS Analyst/Project Manager and Co-owner of Solara Concepts and works part-time as a GIS Analyst at Genesee River Watch. Don’t miss this opportunity to discover how geospatial information science is changing how we understand our world.

This event will meet online using Zoom. Some basic knowledge of how to use Zoom is required, such as how to join a meeting. Email invitations will be sent out to registrants 12-24 hours in advance. Don't know how to use Zoom? We've got classes for that! Check out our full events calendar for dates and times.

While we do enable Zoom's Live Transcription services during each even, we understand that that isn't perfect. Given 48 hours notice, HPL has the ability to offer Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) Services for this event. Please contact Cathy Scarnati at cathy.scarnati@libraryweb.org to make a request.
