Avoiding C.R.A.P. Online

Avoiding C.R.A.P. Online In-Person

Stop and evaluate before you hit share. Trustworthiness exists on a scale online. Using the memorable C.R.A.P. acronym--currency, reliability, authority, and purpose--participants will discover methods and tools to determine the trustworthiness of any resource. Learn to do your part to stop the spread of misinformation online.

About the Speaker: Miranda Stefano is a librarian, technologist, and bibliophile. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland iSchool and RIT School of Print Media. She enjoys sharing knowledge with others and is always looking for new opportunities to do so. Her specialties are communication, sign language, technology, and information literacy.

Avoiding C.R.A.P. Online will meet online using Zoom. Some basic knowledge of how to use Zoom is required, such as how to join a meeting. Email invitations will be sent out to registrants 12-24 hours in advance. Don't know how to use Zoom? We've got classes for that! Check out our full events calendar for dates and times.

Closed Captioning: Given 48 hours notice, HPL has the ability to offer Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) Services for this event. Please contact Amy Discenza at amy.discenza@libraryweb.org to make a request.
