Citizen Science Technology Sampler In-Person

Have you ever wondered how you can make a positive, environmental impact in your own community? Are you looking for a way to learn more about nature? Do you want to pick up an interesting new hobby, get outdoors more, and meet new friends?

If you answered "Yes!" to any of these questions, then becoming a citizen scientist may be just the adventure you're looking for!  Through the powers of the internet, you can contribute data about your everyday surroundings to scientists trying to make the world a better place. There are multiple projects available to citizen scientists. You can pick your interests, ranging from birding to waterway health, amphibians or evergreen trees. The options are endless, but it will feel like a walk in the park.

Join Technology Librarian, Hannah Ralston, to learn about citizen science and the techie-tools that support the data. Some basic understanding of the internet is recommended, but it's more important that you bring a love of nature and a desire to do good! Please register. Citizen Science Technology Sampler will meet online using Zoom. Some basic knowledge of how to use Zoom is required, such as how to join a meeting. Email invitations will be sent out to registrants 12-24 hours in advance. Don't know how to use Zoom? We've got classes for that! Check out our full events calendar for dates and times.
