America 250: Looking Back at 1776 In-Person
It goes without saying that 1776 was one of the most important years in American history. Thomas Paine published his essay Common Sense, changing the mindset of the nation. Not long after, Thomas Jefferson penned The Declaration of Independence, which would inspire nations to seek their own independence for generations to come. Summer brought the Battle of Long Island, and the year ends with Washington crossing the Delaware.
