19th Century Games for Children! In-Person

Have you ever wondered what type of games and toys children played with in the 19th century? At this program, a costumed museum educator from the Genesee Country Village & Museum will visit the Henrietta Public Library and help children learn how to play with jackstraws, a cup-and-ball, the whimmy-diddle, a buzz saw, and much more! Those who like a challenge can try to identify the strategies involved in each game and the physics principles that underlie each toy. The program also provides topics for discussion about resource use, the purpose of play, and comparisons between past and present life.

This event is geared to children grades 2-6 with their grown-up, and we appreciate you adhering to this age guideline. Space is limited, so please register each child attending (adults do not need to register).
