Build your racecars, start your engines, and get ready for the Lego Derby! We’ll be holding an exciting afternoon of Lego car races, so feel free to bring one from home or build one here from the library’s Lego parts (we’ll be getting plenty of extra wheels in preparation for the event). Cars must be made of 100% Lego pieces with no motorized parts, and must have a flat enough front end to rest against the board we’ll be using for a starting gate while sitting on a slope — beyond that, go wild!

Cars will race 4 at a time down a wide slope and along a straightaway across the floor. Whichever car makes it the furthest wins the round! We’ll also be showing off all your incredible Lego builds and voting on car designs, with categories including realistic cars, creative themes, and wild feats of Lego engineering.

This program is for ages 6-12. Please register in advance, and check the box on the registration form if you require any accomodations.
