Raising Backyard Chickens In-Person

Ever wanted a great pet who actually makes breakfast for you? Join Dr. Sandra Sluberski for an introduction to keeping your own small flock of chickens right in your own backyard! She’ll give you printed information on what it takes to find good breeds that are hearty for our upstate NY weather, set up a weather-resistant coop, and give tips on feeding and health issues. PLUS, you’ll get to meet several very unique chickens: her Silkie hens, who will show you just how cuddly and personable a chicken can be - and they wear chicken diapers when they’re inside, so you’ll see that too! She’ll also provide excerpts from the Henrietta Town Code on the restrictions for keeping backyard birds, and will bring a display of great chicken keeping books, and fun chicken storybooks to consider for your younger family members!
